Biography
Michael J. Washington is a versatile and accomplished vocalist who has become a respected presence in the Los Angeles music scene. Known for his rich tone and engaging artistry, Michael has performed with some of the city’s most esteemed organizations, including the Los Angeles Master Chorale, LA Opera, and Disney.
As a member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, Michael has performed at the renowned Walt Disney Concert Hall, contributing to acclaimed productions under the leadership of world-class conductors. Notable highlights include Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Verdi’s Requiem, where his voice helped bring these monumental works to life. His work with the Chorale demonstrates his dedication to musical excellence and his passion for choral artistry.
Michael’s collaborations with LA Opera have seen him perform in celebrated productions such as Turandot, Othello, and most recently, Roméo et Juliette. These experiences have allowed him to showcase his vocal talent and commanding stage presence while deepening his connection to the operatic repertoire and its audiences.
Michael’s work with Disney highlights his ability to connect with both classical and mainstream audiences. He has been featured on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack and performed in the 30th Anniversary Celebration of The Lion King. He starred in The Lion King at Disneyland Hong Kong, and Disneyland Anaheim bringing depth and energy to the iconic roles of Mufasa and Scar. Additionally, he played the role of Gaston in Disneyland Hong Kong's production Let's Get Wicked!
Michael holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Chapman University and a Master of Music degree from UCLA, experiences for which he remains deeply grateful.
